METHODOLOGY

In the Spanish courses at ELE USAL Strasbourg, when you are at the elementary level, this means that you will learn to use basic social conventions (the standards of courtesy, the different ways of greeting depending on the interlocutor). You will understand how to use a brief repertoire of learned formulations to speak in a conversation and to be able to identify the subject being discussed in this conversation.

Regarding the compression of texts, in this level you will understand both orally and in writing, how to deal with short texts like a form, brochure or leaflet, et même d’un journal or television. In this way, you will be able to understand the most important ideas on the topic being discussed.

With regard to interculturality, during this level you will learn more about the Hispanic variety and you will be able to analyze the different visions of the Hispanic world, their culture and their way of life. Thereby you can see the prejudices about this culture and contrast them with reality. You will discover that there is not just one way of Spanish life, but that each region of the Hispanic world has an enormous cultural richness, a variety of languages which means that each country is full of things to share.

Often, we have a particular vision of countries and cultures that we do not know. During the A2 level Spanish course (elementary), we begin to understand how it really works and our vision towards certain countries is greatly enriched.

In this way, at the end of the elementary level you will be able to get by with a repertoire of simple linguistic and non-linguistic resources (sentence structures, for example) and general knowledge of social conventions and the cultural referents of the Hispanic world. You will be able to communicate clearly and get by in everyday life situations (ask a question and respond to concrete requests to go shopping, go to the bank, the post office, take transportation, etc. ).

To get there, the main focus is on mixed pedagogical approaches focused on communication. Oral (compression and expression) take a lot of importance here, because we know that the primary goal when learning is to communicate. The proposed activities will confront you each time with a real communicative situation so that in this way you really feel your progress during the training. Written compression also takes an important place. Written expression is also developing in a more autonomous way.

At the end of this A2 level Spanish course (elementary), you will be able to:

  • Understand isolated sentences and frequently used expressions related to immediate areas of priority (simple personal and family information, shopping, immediate environment, work);
  • Communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring only a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters;
  • Describe with simple means your training, his immediate environment and bring up subjects that correspond to immediate needs.
