At Spanish Langue Institut ELE Strasbourg we use six (6) different levels of Spanish, from absolute beginners to full fluency (like a native speaker). Each level is defined by the degree of mastery of specific communication skills: oral expression, oral comprehension, reading and writing.
40 hours of lessons are equivalent to 3 months in our Spanish courses or simply 40 hours of private lessons. In other words, each of our first three levels of Spanish (A1, A2, B1) can be completed in 3 months each on average. Our fourth and fifth level (B2, C1) need a little more time, varies from student to student, but the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages states that on average it takes 400 hours study.
