Film-by-film
Un poète (Un poeta)
Director / writer: Simón Mesa Soto.
Cast: Ubeimar Rios, Rebeca Andrade, Guillermo Cardona.
Synopsis: Óscar Restrepo is an unrecognised poet, stuck between hardship and disillusionment.
Everything shifts when he meets Yurlady, a teenager with real writing talent; he decides to mentor her and encourages her to enter a national poetry competition.
The film portrays a complex mentor–student relationship shaped by hope, projection, and social reality.
Maspalomas (preview)
Directors: Aitor Arregi, José Mari Goenaga.
Cast (confirmed): José Ramón Soroiz.
Synopsis: At 76, Vicente returns to San Sebastián after years living in Maspalomas, associated with a freer life. Back home, he chooses to hide his sexual orientation again, reopening personal and social tensions around identity, fear, and acceptance.
Fraise et chocolat (Fresa y Chocolate) (1993)
Directors: Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, Juan Carlos Tabío.
Cast: Jorge Perugorría, Vladimir Cruz (and, per listings, Mirta Ibarra, among others).
Synopsis: In Havana, David meets Diego, a gay artist who is cultured, outspoken, and provocative. What begins with prejudice grows into a relationship that questions intolerance, intellectual freedom, and the human cost of exclusion.
Algo viejo, algo nuevo, algo prestado, Argentina, 2024
Director / writer: Hernán Rosselli.
Synopsis: On the outskirts of Buenos Aires, the Felpeto family runs an underground sports betting operation. After the father’s death, the mother and daughter take over, while Maribel uncovers a family secret that destabilises the household and reshapes her personal story.
Olivia (young audiences)
Direction: Irene Iborra
Synopsis: Olivia is 12, and her life changes abruptly; she must adapt to a more modest new reality and take on responsibilities far too early. A sensitive story for younger audiences, focusing on family, resilience, and growing independence.
Marco, l’énigme d’une vie (Marco)
Directors: Aitor Arregi, Jon Garaño.
Cast: Eduard Fernández, Nathalie Poza, Chani Martín, Sonia Almarcha.
Synopsis : Enric Marco is a highly respected figure in Spain. He is the founder and president of his country’s association for Holocaust victims. As a commemoration approaches, his world falls apart when historian Benito Bermejo questions his account as a former deportee to the Flossenbürg concentration camp. His accusations are quickly picked up by the national media. Marco struggles to maintain his version of events, while evidence mounts against him and even his loved ones begin to doubt him. A huge scandal soon erupts and Marco is forced to face up to his own lies.
Noces de sang (Bodas de sangre, 1981)
Director: Carlos Saura.
Cast: Antonio Gades, Cristina Hoyos.
Synopsis: Inspired by Lorca’s tragedy, a wedding is torn apart by an earlier passion and a conflict that leads to a fatal outcome.
Saura’s approach is deeply tied to flamenco, turning the drama into a choreographic and cinematic experience at once.
Los Tigres (2025)
Director: Alberto Rodríguez.
Cast: Antonio de la Torre, Bárbara Lennie, Joaquín Núñez, César Vicente (among others).
Synopsis: Antonio, a professional diver, senses his underwater career is nearing its end and he will have to reinvent himself. With his sister Estrella, he is pulled into one last job: retrieving a cocaine stash, caught between necessity, ambition, and danger.
