In the following table you can see how Spanish levels are structured according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and according to ELE USAL Strasbourg in compliance with this European standard. At ELE USAL Strasbourg, we have divided each of these reference levels into 2 additional sub-levels. This reorganization enables the development of the student’s communicative skills in a much more effective and conscious way, and it enables us to guide each student towards the course best adapted to their Spanish level.

You want to communicate in informal situations, understand simple texts and conversations and learn more about Hispanic culture? You already know a little bit Spanish and want to go further, whether for traveling or simply to get closer to the Hispanic culture?

METHODOLOGY

In Spanish courses at the elementary level, you will learn how to use basic social conventions (the standards of courtesy, the different ways of greeting according to the situation). You will understand how to use specific expressions to take part in a conversation and to be able to identify the topic that is being discussed.

Regarding the understanding of texts and statements, at this level you will understand, in speaking and in writing, how to deal with short texts such as forms, leaflets, newspaper articles or news bulletins. In this way, you will be able to understand the most important ideas about the topic that is being discussed.

At the end of the elementary level you will be endowed with simple linguistic and non-linguistic resources and with general knowledge of the social conventions and the cultural models of the Hispanic world. You will be able to communicate clearly and to manage in everyday life situations (asking or answering questions when you go shopping, when you go to the bank, to the post office, when you take transportation, etc.).

For all our courses, we offer at the end of each period an official certificate from the Spanish Language Schools of the University of Salamanca with the number of hours that have been carried out and the level that has been worked on.

SKILLS AND EXPECTATIONS ASSESSMENT

ELE USAL Strasbourg assesses students’ level in a personalised way so that they can take the course best adapted to their needs.

If you have already studied Spanish, but not at ELE USAL Strasbourg, we have to assess your skills and needs. However, complete beginners, students who have already taken courses with us during the past year and those who have already taken the level test less than 6 months ago are exempted from this requirement.

The level test is made up of two parts: a written test and an oral test.

First, you must complete the written test, and then you can choose the date and time for the oral test, which can be taken by phone or take place directly in our centre.

– For the written test, click HERE

– For the oral test (by phone or in our centre), you must fix an appointment with us by contacting the following address info@strasbourg-eleusal.com

Location: 9 rue Saint-Aloïse (2nd floor), 67100, Strasbourg.

The levels of our Spanish courses, at ELE USAL Strasbourg, are consistent with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

IMPORTANT: ELE USAL Strasbourg does not provide any certificate nor document at the end of a level test. This test does not serve as certification and cannot validate any language proficiency level. The result remains private and enables the student to join the course best adapted to his/her level. If the student wishes to certify his/her Spanish level, he/she has to take the DELE or SIELE exam, which are the two certification systems that ELE USAL Strasbourg offers.
