About this course
Spanish course B1 – Intermediate. The Spanish Language School of the University of Salamanca in Strasbourg is a world reference in teaching Spanish. The content of our Spanish courses in Strasbourg is based on the structure of language skills proposed by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and by the Cervantes Institute.
In the following table you can see how Spanish levels are structured according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and according to ELE USAL Strasbourg in compliance with this European standard. At ELE USAL Strasbourg, we have divided each of these reference levels into 3 additional sub-levels. This reorganization enables the development of the student’s communicative skills in a much more effective and conscious way, and it enables us to guide each student towards the course best adapted to their Spanish level.
Each session includes 30 hours to make you reach the targeted level, the training lasts 15 weeks, 2 hours one day a week. Moreover, we take into account school holidays so that you can rest and you don’t miss any class.
You want to communicate and argue on various topics, to understand short films and journalistic reports, to read a novel and to talk about current events of the Hispanic world? In addition, B2 level is the one that is required to consider doing a year of study, an internship or a professional stay in a Hispanic context.
METHODOLOGY
The advanced level is the required level to be able to enjoy an educational or professional experience in the Hispanic world. Whether it is an experience in a university in Spain or Latin America, or an internship or a job in a company, the required level is B2 level. The reason is that when you have a B2 level, you have enough resources to participate in conversations with fluidity, precision and fluency with the person you are speaking to. You also have the requisite tools to correct your mistakes and avoid misunderstandings. You have sufficient linguistic assets to express yourself during all kinds of exchanges. In addition, you understand the different language registers and thus you know how to speak according to the context and you are able to face a problem.
In this level, we work on the resources necessary to successfully listen and participate in a professional meeting or a lesson, to understand different points of view, to express ideas and opinions with ease and to present an argument. Finally, in the advanced level, you will acquire the tools you will need to manage during fluid interviews. We work with texts focusing on different topics and you will be confronted with all types of languages and texts. In this way, you will develop strategies to follow and understand a movie, a documentary, a book, a scientific article, etc. You will also be able to talk about it afterwards, to make a report, an essay, a summary, etc.
For all our courses, we offer at the end of each period an official certificate from the Spanish Language Schools of the University of Salamanca with the number of hours that have been carried out and the level that has been worked on.
SKILLS AND EXPECTATIONS ASSESSMENT
ELE USAL Strasbourg assesses students’ level in a personalised way so that they can take the course best adapted to their needs.
If you have already studied Spanish, but not at ELE USAL Strasbourg, we have to assess your skills and needs. However, complete beginners, students who have already taken courses with us during the past year and those who have already taken the level test less than 6 months ago are exempted from this requirement.
The level test is made up of two parts: a written test and an oral test.
First, you must complete the written test, and then you can choose the date and time for the oral test, which can be taken by phone or take place directly in our centre.
